Job Summary
Performs complete and accurate patient registration/admission across multiple access areas to support efficient check-in, scheduling, and financial counseling. Responds to triage calls, assists in scheduling treatments, coordinates with clinical teams, manages appointment work queues, verifies insurance requirements and benefits, collects non-covered fees, pre-registers outpatients across sites, obtains necessary demographic/insurance/clinical data, orients patients to processes and privacy notices, arranges interpreter services when needed, submits NPI for non-staff providers, and supports cross-function collaboration to minimize payer denials and ensure timely reimbursement. Maintains knowledge of CPT/ICD coding, payer resources, and EMTALA/HIPAA regulations; guides patients through financial responsibilities and prepares necessary registration documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- College degree preferred
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of customer service; Minimum 1 year healthcare patient access department experience; HIPAA/privacy and security requirements; payer requirements; regulatory compliance; EMTALA; CMS/IDPH knowledge; Epic Registration and/or Scheduling experience preferred
