Job Summary
Patient Access Representative III - Financial Counselor responsible for patient registration, financial counseling, insurance verification, authorization, and ADT-related tasks; leads shift Patient Access Operations, analyzes revenue-cycle reports, and collaborates with department leaders to optimize processes. Duties include greeting patients, securing hospital forms (Advance Directives, consent, EMTALA), scanning PHI, preparing patient information packets, scheduling procedures, and assisting with physician/patient interviews; provides full financial counseling and employs compliant collection techniques for patient liabilities; ensures insurance verification, benefits eligibility, and inpatient notifications; supports cash reconciliation and secure payment entry; requires at least a high school diploma or GED and 2-4 years in a medical/health-insurance setting, with 2+ years in Patient Access preferred and some college coursework encouraged; able to work in a fast-paced hospital environment with strong communication and customer-service skills; vaccination/screening confirmations may be required prior to employment; vaccines includeCOVID-19 and influenza where applicable.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-4 years experience in medical facility, health insurance, or related area
- 2+ years in Patient Access preferred
- Some college coursework preferred
