Job Summary
Conduct patient registration, scheduling, and discharge functions by obtaining accurate demographic data and scanning protected health information. Greet patients according to Conifer Standards of Care, explain and secure legal forms, and perform financial clearance including liability collection and payment reconciliation. Verify insurance benefits, obtain authorizations, and coordinate post-discharge care while resolving patient issues and interpreting medical terminology. Work in high-volume environments such as the Emergency Department, maintaining cash control policies and collaborating with internal and external clients.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum typing skills of 35 wpm
- Demonstrated working knowledge of PC/CRT/printer
- Customer service skills and experience
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications
- Must be able to perform essential job duties in at least two Patient Access service areas including Emergency Department
- Uses proper negotiation techniques to professionally collect money owed by our Patients/Guarantors
- Must be able to appropriately interpret physician orders, medical terminology and insurance cards while maintaining Conifer Standards of Care
- Must be available to work hours and days as needed based on departmental/system demands
- 0 – 1 year in a Customer Service role
- Conifer requires its candidates, as applicable and as permitted by law, to obtain and provide confirmation of all required vaccinations and screenings prior to the start of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of function and relationships within a hospital environment
- Understanding of Third Party Payor requirements
- Understanding of Compliance standards
- 0 – 1 year administrative experience in medical facility, health insurance, or related area
- Some college coursework
