Job Summary
Register all patients in accordance with department procedures and complete admission forms accurately; verify medical record status using the Master Patient Index; collect complete patient information and ensure understanding of hospital policies; coordinate pre-admission information with necessary parties and obtain required authorizations; verify insurance coverage and eligibility and collect payments with receipts; contact physician offices for pre-admission information as needed; operate PBX, transfer calls, and paging as required; maintain patient confidentiality and provide a safe environment for patients and staff; handle duties related to admissions, billing, and documentation with strong English communication, time management, and customer service skills; bilingual skills are a preferred qualification; hospital-specific safety training may be required within 30 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of admitting office and/or PBX operator experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Understanding of Medical Terminology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to multitask and maintain a work pace appropriate to workload
- Computer literacy and proficiency
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card within 30 days of hire date (Hollywood and Van Nuys only)
