Job Summary
Patient Access Representative II at MUSC handles patient registration and insurance verification to maximize payment for inpatient/outpatient services. Responsibilities include obtaining and updating demographic and insurance information, confirming insurance details, explaining and collecting payment arrangements, screening for funding sources, noting prepayments and waivers, and ensuring accurate posting/reconciliation of payments. Requires customer-service excellence, familiarity with MSP/Real Time Eligibility, pre-authorization requirements, and coordination with clinical areas to set financial expectations. Includes standing, mobility, and physical requirements to perform duties in a hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; or a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two years of work experience in a Medical Office, Call Center, and/or customer service business environment and a minimum of 6 months satisfactory work experience in MUHA Patient Access, or at least 6 months of medical related work experience is required.
