Job Summary
Register patients accurately by obtaining and updating demographic and insurance information, collecting co-pay and deductible amounts, and verifying pre-certification for outpatient services. Assist patients in understanding benefits, rights, and advance directives while arranging transfers to proper departments and ensuring face sheets, labels, and armbands are completed. Answer the switchboard as needed and function flexibly across all areas of the Patient Access Department to meet 24/7 staffing requirements, including weekends and holidays. Perform daily accuracy checks on face sheets and labels, utilizing strong phone skills and keyboarding abilities to communicate effectively with departments and customers.
Required Qualifications
- Must be flexible and willing to work Weekends/Holidays/Overnight when needed
- Must be flexible and willing to function within each area of the Patient Access Department to assure full staffing needs are met at all times
- Good communication skills
- Experience with keyboarding, calculator, and other office equipment commonly found in an office environment
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
- Must possess great phone skills with the ability to communicate effectively while entering information into the computer
- Physical strength to perform the following lifting demands: Floor to waist – 10 pounds
- Physical strength to perform the following lifting demands: Waist to shoulder – 10 pounds
- Physical strength to perform the following lifting demands: Shoulder to overhead - 10 pounds
- Physical strength to perform the following lifting demands: Carry 10 pounds for 15 feet
- Physical strength to perform the following lifting demands: Push 10 pounds/force for 15 feet
- Physical strength to perform the following lifting demands: Pull 10 pounds/force for 15 feet
