Job Summary
The Patient Access Representative will be the first point of contact, enabling smooth patient entry into Mercy facilities by handling scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance while ensuring accurate patient data. Requires attention to detail, strong communication, proficiency with insurance processes, and comfort navigating hospital systems; works days/evenings/nights with rotating holidays & weekends in a hospital setting. A high school diploma is required, with 1-3 years clerical experience and familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma required, some college helpful
- Experience: 1-3 years clerical experience preferred
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
- Knowledgeable with various computer systems; ability to use a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard
