Job Summary
Coordinate front-end patient registration from pre-registration through discharge, verifying insurance, collecting financial liability, and scheduling appointments. Call patients to confirm details, reconfirm legal name spelling, and scan identification documents while adhering to EMTALA, HIPAA, and CMS guidelines. Identify patients needing early financial counseling and escalate unaddressed benefit concerns to the Financial Counselor. Maintain monthly assurance accuracy rates and departmental productivity standards while managing high patient volumes. Assist with insurance questions, obtain release of information signatures, and distribute paperwork per departmental procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years healthcare related or customer service experience
- Associate or bachelor degree
- Typing skills with a minimum of 35 wpm
- Good communication skills
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs
- Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs
- Occasional to frequent standing & walking
- Occasional sitting
- Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
- Shift work
- Travel may be required

Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other commercial payers (HMO, PPO)
