Job Summary

Greet patients and guests via telephone or in person to initiate scheduling, complete check-ins, and admit patients. Obtain and verify accurate demographic and identification data for permanent medical records while maintaining confidentiality. Perform point-of-service collections, including explaining insurance benefits, collecting co-pays, and gathering required forms. Verify insurance electronically or via web application and balance cash drawers daily. Create, activate, and complete clinic registration or hospital admission processes, ensuring all paperwork is accurate. Work 7a-7p, 36-hour weeks including rotating weekends and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, or other customer service-related environment
  • Experience in front line registration, financial counseling, banking, retail, or similar roles involving direct customer or patient interaction
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Clerical skills
  • Technical knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits
  • Knowledge of various payor guidelines on referral and authorization processes
  • Current knowledge of Federal, State and Local billing regulations
  • Skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and customers
  • Skills to solve practical problems and deal with high stress situations while maintaining a high quality of professionalism
  • Good organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent decision making skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in handling/escalating difficult situations
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility
  • Ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
  • Immediate reporting of any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct

  • Residence in Louisiana (not in Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, or Washington D.C.)
  • On-site work availability

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's degree
  • Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM)
  • Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA)
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant
  • Other medical specialty-based certification
