Patient Access Rep I

Job Summary
Register patients in the Emergency Room and manage the patient registration process, including verifying identity, selecting the correct patient record, reviewing schedules and physician orders to register for services, scanning documents (insurance cards, IDs, Living Wills, POAs), entering demographic and insurance data into the electronic health record, and explaining/collecting co-pays and deposits. Provide patient and family greeting and guidance, assist with scheduling, pre-admission and discharge duties, and communicate updates to families in waiting areas. Requires strong customer service and data-entry skills with knowledge of payer procedures, ICD-9/CPT coding, and medical terminology, and adherence to privacy and compliance standards. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree can be considered in lieu of two years of experience
- Experience: Customer Service OR Data Entry - 2 years (Required)
- Knowledge of third party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding and medical terminology (Preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer keyboarding skills (Required)
