Job Summary
Greet patients and guests and manage the patient journey through scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission. Verify identification and demographics for the patient’s permanent medical record to support accurate reimbursement and maintain privacy. Perform point-of-service collections and conduct insurance verification (electronic, telephone, or web) across patient and payer types. Strive to improve patient satisfaction by upholding professional standards and cross-training to support multiple functions. Must have strong computer/data-entry skills, effective verbal/written communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare setting within a high‐volume, high‐stress environment. Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, payor guidelines on referrals/authorization, and applicable federal/state/local regulations is required. Demonstrated organizational and problem‐solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to maintain patient privacy. All duties are performed in accordance with the employer’s Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, or revenue cycle/customer service environment
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and data entry
Desired Qualifications
- Associate’s degree preferred
- CHAM certification preferred
- CHAA certification preferred
- Medical Assistant certification or other medical specialty-based certification preferred
- Experience in hospital/clinic revenue cycle or customer service-related environment
