Job Summary
Patient Access Referral Specialist is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing non-established incoming referrals and service requests in a hospital/ambulatory health care setting. Acts as a liaison between patients, providers, clinical staff, and outside facilities to obtain required information and coordinate services. Duties include verifying patient demographics and insurance eligibility, obtaining authorizations, reviewing medical documentation, assigning MRNs, performing medical-necessity checks, informing patients about forms (e.g., ABN where applicable), scheduling and confirming appointments, and ensuring accurate data entry while maintaining HIPAA privacy. Requires strong communication and customer service skills, proficiency with electronic records systems (e.g., EPIC), knowledge of medical terminology, attention to detail, and ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Education: High School Diploma or GED required; hospital/healthcare experience preferred. Works on-site in Tulsa, OK.
Required Qualifications
- Education- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Completion of a program or training in Medical Office Technology or a related field is preferred.
- Experience – A minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in customer service, healthcare settings, or related fields is preferred.
