Job Summary
Facilitate patient flow from scheduling through registration check-in to ensure a seamless experience. Obtain demographic and financial information to secure accurate patient identification and appropriate payment sources. Perform registration functions, insurance eligibility verification, patient liability collection, and admitting duties. Greet patients, physicians, and staff professionally while checking them into the system and providing appointment direction. Respond to telephone calls and contribute to reduced abandoned call rates through workflow improvements. Search for patients within the hospital system to maintain Electronic Master Patient Index integrity. Enter testing orders, obtain required consents, and remain compliant with HIPAA, EMTALA, and Department Policies.
Required Qualifications
- HS Diploma
- Minimum of 2 years job related experience
- National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) certification within one year of hire
- Basic MS Word & MS Excel
- Customer Service and organizational skills
- Minimum Experience of 1 year preferred in a job-related experience
- Understanding of coding, procedural protocols, and the charge description master
- Ability to remain compliant, current, and knowledgeable with Department Policies and Procedures
- Knowledge of HIPAA, EMTALA and Patient Bill of Rights
- Significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
- Ability to exert up to 35 lbs. force
- Availability for weekends, evenings, overnights and holidays
- Ability to work overnight shifts (Friday and Saturday 10:30pm-6:30am)
- Ability to work 16 hours per week
