Job Summary
The Patient Access Lead is the first point of contact for people inquiring about the provider’s practice and is responsible for organizing daily activities and paperwork, ensuring up-to-date registration knowledge across areas (Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity and Rehabilitation), accurate entry of demographic information into the ADT system, preventing duplicate MRNs, reviewing and documenting information for regulatory compliance (CMS MSP, Medicare IM, Observation Notice), collecting and verifying demographic and financial data for appropriate reimbursement, obtaining patient signatures on required forms, scanning documents, providing patient hand-outs, and following EMTALA-compliant registration steps. The role includes handling self-pay presumptive eligibility, assisting with payment plans, following scripting for patient interactions, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining referrals/authorizations/pre-certifications, ensuring medical necessity checks where appropriate, and escalating as needed. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, basic math for financial payments, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 2+ years of experience in analyzing and solving complex customer problems
- 1+ years of Patient Access and/or Patient Registration experience
- Ability to work 100% onsite at 350 W. Thomas Road in Phoenix, AZ
- Must be 18 years of age or older
