Patient Access Coordinator

Job Summary
Coordinate patient access and scheduling across multiple clinics at MUSC; act as a liaison between patients and the hospital care team to facilitate timely access to care and informed decision making. Manage scheduling, series scheduling, templates, and resource alignment, including referral authorization processes and knowledge of insurance resources. Utilize Epic and MS Office tools to schedule complex follow-up appointments, maintain calendars, and ensure accuracy while communicating professionally with patients and providers. Requires high attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work under deadlines; weekend/holiday availability may be required. Preferred certifications include CHAA or RCR.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years healthcare experience OR Associate's degree with 2 years healthcare experience OR Bachelor's degree with 1 year healthcare experience
- Epic experience
- Medical Office experience
- Call center experience
- Medical terminology and knowledge of insurance
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); MS Outlook; calendar management; scheduling complex follow-up appointments
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple tasks with speed and accuracy
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative preferred
