Job Summary
Identify, register, and schedule patients for care while maintaining a 98% accuracy rate and collecting eligible copayments. Coordinate bed placement by collaborating with nursing leadership, monitoring occupancy, and acting as a contact for physicians on elective and chemotherapy admissions. Manage death processes including certificate completion, state medical examiner notifications, and organ bank communications. Enforce physician suspension lists, assemble federal and state regulated paperwork, and support patient flow during system downtimes. Review insurance eligibility responses, manage timecard systems, and adhere to universal precautions and hospital code protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Two (2) years of college
- Minimum one (1) year admitting experience
- Computer experience
- Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated skills in customer service
- Knowledge of medical insurance
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated completion of NIMS 100 training
- Ability to function using department computer programs, including Internal/External websites
- Complete understanding of computer downtime process
- Ability to review, analyze, and act upon insurance eligibility system responses
- Ability to manage own API (timecard) system
- Understanding of individual roles/responsibilities during hospital codes (e.g. Code Disaster, Code Red)
- Adherence to universal precautions and respiratory etiquette guidelines
- Ability to adhere to patient identification policies/procedures
- Ability to function with ease in all areas of Patient Access Department
- Ability to collect 30% of eligible copayments
- Ability to monitor and manage workflow as directed in the health system's EHR
- Ability to demonstrate independence, proficiency, and accuracy with all scheduling and registration processes
- Ability to ensure all regulatory and compliance requirements are maintained

- Ability to act as a point of contact for attending physicians on all Pedi, Elective Pre-operative and Chemotheraphy patients needing admission to the hospital

- Ability to act as a key contact for Physicians and Nursing staff on patient information and placement
- Ability to assemble necessary paperwork to include federal and state regulated documents
