Job Summary

Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities in youth program areas while maintaining positive rapport with participants and parents. Prepare each session with proper materials, equipment, and attire, ensuring all classes align with YMCA standards and safety procedures. Leave program areas safe, clean, and properly arranged after each activity. Adhere to bloodborne pathogen standards and complete required annual training. This role supports family nights and requires excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to diverse community groups. You must be at least 16 years old, hold CPR and First Aid certification, and demonstrate commitment to the organization's mission.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year youth programming experience
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Safety training
  • Red Cross Babysitter Certification (if under the age of 18)
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Excellent personal computer skills
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated team player
  • Commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and upholding its values and ethics
  • Ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
  • Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device
  • Ability to sit and reach
  • Ability to move around the work environment
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Close vision
  • Distance vision
  • Ability to adjust vision
