Job Summary
Pathways High School Math Teacher needed at Kenowa Hills Pathways High School to deliver math instruction aligned to the Michigan Merit Curriculum in a flexible, student-centered learning environment. The role involves designing personalized learning experiences to support credit attainment, graduation requirements, and student growth, delivering instruction via direct, small-group, blended, and digital formats, building strong relationships with students and families, and supporting students in connecting coursework to Educational Development Plans, career exploration, and post-secondary goals. Responsibilities include monitoring progress toward credit completion, using assessment data to identify gaps and implement targeted interventions, maintaining high expectations with appropriate supports, addressing diverse academic and behavioral needs, implementing classroom management and de-escalation strategies, and collaborating with Pathways staff, counselors, interventionists, SPED staff, administrators, families, and community partners. The position requires on-site attendance and involves extensive use of instructional technology, with a focus on re-engagement and graduation success within a non-traditional educational setting. Continuous professional learning, PLC participation, and data-driven decision-making are expected, along with other duties as assigned. The role emphasizes relationship-building, student engagement, attendance, persistence, and graduation readiness in a non-traditional pathway environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate secondary Mathematics (EX) endorsement required
- Strong understanding of secondary mathematics instruction, intervention, and differentiated learning practices
- Experience providing math intervention, credit recovery support, and targeted small-group instruction strongly preferred
- Experience working with students in alternative education, credit recovery, dropout prevention, intervention, or non-traditional educational settings preferred
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, positive relationships with students and families
- Commitment to Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) and relationship-centered educational practices
- Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices and student-centered instruction
- Strong collaboration, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and executive functioning needs
- Experience with or willingness to implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), small-group intervention, and individualized learning plans
- Willingness to participate in district-provided training opportunities, including CPI, CPR/First Aid, and district instructional initiatives
- Preference given to candidates holding additional secondary endorsements (Science, Social Studies, English Language Arts, or other core content areas) to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities and flexible scheduling needs within the Pathways program
