Job Summary
Provide anatomic pathology services under the direction of a board-certified pathologist by preparing specimens with appropriate gross examination and ensuring proper accessioning. Receive specimens, monitor requisitions, assess samples with the naked eye, assign specimen coding, and dictate or transcribe gross descriptions. Take sections for histologic preparation while complying with safety, biohazard, and quality control regulations. Train and supervise grossing technicians, including performing competency tests, evaluating performance, and documenting all training activities. Assist with procedure changes and interact effectively with lab employees and pathologists. Work the PM shift in Port Chester, NY, with no NY license required.
Required Qualifications
- BS/MS in related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn internal software programs
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English
- Excellent organizational skills
- Cooperative working relationship with peers and management
