Job Summary
Staff Pathologists Assistant dissects tissue specimens and provides dictated placement in plastic cassettes for embedding, staining, and microscopic analysis. Responsibilities include coding and accessioning of specimens; processing complex tissue specimens; instructing residents, fellows, medical students, and faculty in gross room protocols; performing intraoperative consultations and FNA adequacies; preparing specimen radiographs; assisting in tissue banking and research; providing weekend and off-site coverage; and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Requires PA (ASCP) certification and degrees in pathology-related fields; strong instruction and collaboration skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Master’s degree from an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program
- PA (ASCP) – Pathologist Assistant Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology within 180 Days
