Job Summary
Pathologist Assistant Certified at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville supports patient-focused care through gross dissection and documentation of surgical specimens, under supervision of a pathologist. Responsible for accurate gross dissection, documentation, and timely completion of surgical case reports, with participation in quality management activities and involvement in tissue processing (including tissue in special fixatives, tissue culture media, and selection for culture). Demonstrates foundational pathology knowledge and quality assurance capabilities, with emphasis on problem solving, mentoring others, and effective communication to support reliable clinical outcomes. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality, safe care, adherence to safety and regulatory requirements, and contributing to continuous improvement in processes. Education required: Master's degree; Experience: Less than 1 year; Position under Vanderbilt Health, a large academic medical center with extensive clinical and research activities.
