Job Summary
Pathologist Assistant provides support to pathologists in preparation, examination, and processing of surgical specimens and autopsies. Responsibilities include gross examination and dissection of specimens, assisting with autopsy procedures, documenting specimens, assisting with frozen sections and intraoperative consultations, ensuring proper labeling and chain of custody, preparing pathology reports and records, maintaining compliance with CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards, and participating in QA/QI activities. Mentorship and training of laboratory staff, students, or residents are also part of the role; strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred (not necessary) from an accredited Pathologists' Assistant program.
