Job Summary
Conduct precise gross examinations and dissections of surgical specimens while assisting the team with daily gross room operations. Ensure compliance with NYSDOH, CAP, and CDC standards by maintaining accurate records, managing tools, and stocking lab supplies. Collaborate with pathologists and clinical professionals to deliver timely, accurate specimen analyses. This role involves a mix of standing, sitting, and reaching, with occasional fume exposure and a requirement to lift up to 25 pounds. You will have Level 3 access to patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related science
- At least three years of supervised on-the-job training
- A degree from an NCCLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant training program

- NYS License as a Pathologists' Assistant
- ASCP Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant [PA(ASCP)CM]
- Certified Histological Technician
- Clinical Laboratory Technician
- Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist
