Job Summary
Patent Counsel (Contractor) at Mercedes-Benz in North America. Responsible for understanding diverse technology areas, conducting invention-disclosure meetings, crafting IP/protection strategies, drafting and prosecuting patent applications with outside counsel, advising on FTO and other IP matters (trademark, copyright, software licensing), and delivering training on patentability and related topics. Locations include Atlanta, GA and Ann Arbor, MI.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years years of experience.
- BS degree in an engineering or scientific discipline (computer science, electrical/mechanical/materials engineering, math, or physics).
- Ability to communicate with inventors to understand their inventions and translate to IP strategy, including patent claim strategy.
- Ability to review claims and patent specifications drafted by outside counsel, and perform hands-on drafting of patent claims and specifications.
- Experience with and understanding of patent prosecution/examination process at the USPTO.
- Registered agent or attorney with the USPTO.
