Job Summary
Write new patent applications for filing at the USPTO, analyze and revise patent agreements, and draft responses to office actions received. Prepare documents for filing and processing while performing patentability and freedom-to-operate searches. Maintain an active prosecution docket and assist with appeals, inferences, reexaminations, interviews, and reissues. Negotiate and draft patent agreements for corporate, individual, and nonprofit clients. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, USPTO registration, and three years of experience drafting and prosecuting applications.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the USPTO
- Degree in Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- Experience and interest preparing patent applications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science
- Minimum of three years of experience drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications in the USPTO for an intellectual property law firm
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to respond effectively to clients, employees and management and handle sensitive and/or confidential communications
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work under time restraints and deadlines
