Job Summary
Write new patent applications for filing at the USPTO, analyze and revise patent agreements, and draft responses to office actions. Perform patentability and freedom-to-operate searches, publication clearance reviews, and assist in maintaining an active prosecution docket. Negotiate and draft patent agreements while preparing documents for filing and processing. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, USPTO registration, and three years of experience drafting applications. Must respond effectively to clients and handle confidential communications under time restraints.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the USPTO
- Degree in Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- Experience and interest preparing patent applications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science
- Minimum of three years of experience drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications in the USPTO for an intellectual property law firm
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to respond effectively to clients, employees and management and handle sensitive and/or confidential communications
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work under time restraints and deadlines
