Job Summary
Write new patent applications for filing at the USPTO and draft responses to office actions received. Analyze and revise patent agreements, assisting with appeals, inferences, reexaminations, interviews, and reissues. Negotiate and draft agreements while preparing documents for filing and processing. Perform patentability and freedom-to-operate searches, conduct publication clearance reviews, and maintain an active prosecution docket. Requires a registered Patent Agent with a degree in Software, Chemical, or Chemical Engineering and three years of USPTO prosecution experience. Required Qualifications
- Registered with the USPTO
- Degree in Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- Experience and interest preparing patent applications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science
- Minimum of three years of experience drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications in the USPTO for an intellectual property law firm
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to respond effectively to clients, employees and management and handle sensitive and/or confidential communications
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work under time restraints and deadlines
