Job Summary
Write new patent applications for filing at the USPTO, draft responses to office actions, and handle routine correspondence with the USPTO. Analyze and revise patent agreements, assist with appeals and reexaminations, and negotiate or draft agreements for filing and processing. Perform patentability and freedom-to-operate searches, conduct publication clearance reviews, and maintain an active prosecution docket. Requires a degree in Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry, USPTO registration, and three years of experience drafting patent applications. Required Qualifications
- Registered with the USPTO
- Degree in Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- Experience and interest preparing patent applications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science
- Minimum of three years of experience drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications in the USPTO for an intellectual property law firm
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to respond effectively to clients, employees and management and handle sensitive and/or confidential communications
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work under time restraints and deadlines
