Job Summary
Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. patent applications; conduct prior art searches and provide input to foreign agents on foreign office actions; maintain accurate records of filings, deadlines, and office actions; collaborate with engineering, R&D, legal, and product teams to capture invention disclosures and ensure timely patent submissions. On-site role with AGCO locations Hesston, Tremont, or Duluth (minimum 4 days/week), focusing on protecting intellectual property and supporting strategic IP portfolio management. Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering/science and USPTO registration as a Patent Agent; experience with patent preparation/prosecution and strong analytical, technical writing, and communication abilities; preferred experience in agriculture, manufacturing, machinery, automotive, or related tech fields.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, or related technical field (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer Science)
- Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as a Patent Agent
- Experience preparing or prosecuting patent applications (internship, co‐op, or entry‐level experience acceptable)
- Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills
- Ability to understand complex inventions and translate them into clear patent documentation
