Job Summary
Lead the development of large-scale software applications for our IT Operations platform, focusing on retrofitting systems to handle massive datasets and addressing data-volume performance challenges. Influence critical architectural decisions to ensure systems remain scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives while balancing technical debt and performance concerns. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements based on support data and mentor junior engineers on best practices and technical standards. Advocate for quality assurance practices to deliver robust, high-performance software that meets customer expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of experience in Java software development, particularly for product applications
- 5+ years of experience with highly scalable systems
- Proven experience in scaling systems and solving complex system design challenges
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) design principles and practices
- Expertise in API design and RESTful services, with experience using frameworks like Spring
- Proficient in relational database design and development
- Experience with caching systems
- Knowledge of large-scale datastore bottlenecks
- Asynchronous application design
- Client-server architecture
- Experience with large-scale datastore performance
- Location in USA and reside in one of the following states - CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, ME, MA, MD NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA
- Willingness to self-relocate if located within Chicago city limits
