Job Summary

Pastry Cook responsible for measuring and mixing ingredients, shaping dough for cookies, pies, and pastries, preparing fillings, decorating cakes and other desserts, and serving gelato/sorbet. Performs all cooks duties with emphasis on sanitation, FIFO, quality control, and teamwork to ensure prompt, professional guest service. Responsibilities include following standardized recipes and production sheets, communicating with the Sous Chef about shortages, maintaining department policies, and assisting in maintaining freshness and inventory across freezers, walk-ins, and storerooms. Requires basic knife skills, recipe-measurement knowledge, and the ability to work flexible shifts in a fast-paced kitchen environment; Illinois Food Handler Certification is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Illinois Food Handler Certification required
  • Must possess basic knife skills
  • Knowledge in measuring and weight conversion for recipes
  • Must possess outstanding interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and with a sense of urgency
  • Cooperative, helpful and friendly demeanor
  • Neat, clean, well-groomed appearance
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including holidays
  • Frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, twisting, lifting, and kneeling
  • Ability to work in wet floors and temperature extremes
  • Team Member must frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds
