Job Summary
Pastry Chef at The Elene in Napa Valley leads all pastry, dessert, and artisan bread production for the restaurant and cafe under the Executive Chef. Responsible for guiding the pastry team with creativity, precision, and consistency, collaborating on seasonal menu development, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the leadership and culture of the culinary team. Pre-opening experience and strong certifications are valued, along with the ability to work flexible hours in a luxury, high-standard hospitality environment. The role emphasizes dairy-free/seasonal techniques, farm-to-table influences, and high presentation standards across multiple outlets within a pre-opening luxury property project.
Required Qualifications
- Formal culinary training or equivalent hands-on experience in pastry arts
- 2-4 years of professional pastry experience in an upscale or fine dining environment
- Pre-opening or opening team experience strongly preferred
- Current Food Handler and ServSafe Manager certifications
- Strong leadership skills: ability to build, train, and motivate kitchen teams
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Must be able to work flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
