Job Summary
Manage cost controls and expenditures for all bakery and pastry production equipment, food, and curated goods. Create pricing schedules for bakery needs and source high-quality, local, sustainable, and organic ingredients. Plan menus with an emphasis on seasonal items and creative choices while purchasing and managing inventory. Enforce food quality standards and ensure the safety of the physical kitchen and café space. Hold staff meetings for food safety, quality issues, and innovations. Meet production schedule needs for in-house products and catered events, building a structure to deliver in-house catering and support company and special events. Create a pleasant environment for SpaceX employees to meet and share a meal.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of professional experience as a bakery or pastry chef and in culinary management
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying
- Ability to work all required shift hours, including weekends, as needed
- Ability to work a schedule that meets the department needs
- U.S. citizen or national
- U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder)
- Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157
- Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158
- Eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in culinary arts
- High volume production and/or catering experience
- Proven ability to create innovative menus on a daily basis
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Excellent communication skills
- Creative spirit and ability to make the culinary experience part of the SpaceX culture
