Job Summary
Conduct daily production of artisan baked goods from scratch, including laminated pastries, breakfast pastries, cookies, pies, individual pastries, and wedding cakes, while ensuring quality, taste, and consistency within a commercial bakery setting. Collaborate with bakery staff to meet production goals, participate in product development, menu planning, and innovation, and assist in monitoring inventory and product ordering. Maintain a clean work environment adhering to food safety and sanitation standards, operate commercial bakery equipment, and assist in training interns and new bakers. Work full-time, 40 hours per week with one weekend day required, including shifts starting as early as 3:00 AM.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years baking experience
- preferably in a professional baking environment
- Demonstrated ability in consistently produce exceptional baked products
- Demonstrated ability in proficiency and accuracy with scaling, mixing, baking, and finish work
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time
- Used hands to handle, control, feel objects, tools and controls
- This is a physically demanding role, requiring standing, walking, and frequently lifting up to 10 hours a day
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to operate commercial bakery equipment
- Ability to regularly work in a kitchen environment where allergens may be present
- Ability to regularly touch and taste food products which may contain allergens
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Footwear must be closed toed, non-slip shoes
- Socks must be worn
- Long pants, skirt or shorts required
- Clean King Arthur Baking T-shirt
- Clean white apron
- Hair and facial hair covering must be worn (hair/beard net)
- Gloves when handling baked goods post bake
- Must be able to study formulas, choose exact ingredients, and scale correctly
- Must be able to follow formulas and instructions accurately
- Must be able to prioritize without sacrificing quality
- Ability to inform others of what is happening in the bakery
