Job Summary
Yorktown Systems Group (YSG) and The Unconventional (TU) are seeking qualified Pashtu/Dari linguists to support current and future foreign language and linguistic requirements across government contracts. Responsibilities may include interpretation (in-person and virtual), translation of written/electronic/audio/video materials, document review/editing, and foreign language instruction in classroom or virtual settings. This open evergreen requisition supports multiple language support roles throughout the YSG/TU portfolio as opportunities arise. Travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Must be qualified/certified at CAT I, CAT II, or CAT III with ILR English proficiency level requirements (ILR 2+ for CAT I and CAT II; ILR 3 for CAT III)
- CAT I: local-national/third-country-national/uncleared U.S. citizen with background check; security vetting provided
- CAT II: U.S. citizen, security-vetted, may have interim SECRET access for contract purposes
- CAT III: U.S. citizen, TOP SECRET with SCI access or interim TS clearance with SCI access
- Ability to provide foreign language instruction to adult students
- Ability to perform idiomatic translations between English and the target language
- Ability to conduct consecutive and accurate interpretation of ongoing conversations
- Familiarity with local culture and customs
- Willingness to live and work in harsh environments and temporary facilities as mission dictates
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced team environment
- Knowledge of specialized vocabulary in English and the target language related to government missions
- Fluency in English and target language including regionalisms and slang
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Ability to travel as required
