Job Summary
Pashto Reviewer/Editor/Certifier needed to support DOJ Linguistic Support Services, including translation of documents and audio/video, transcription, and interpretation services across legal, medical, financial, and other technical domains. Responsibilities include handling sensitive material with strict confidentiality, delivering accurate translations and transcriptions, preserving tone and register, and employing CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio) for translation work. Requires ILR 4 minimum or equivalent, five years of experience in the language, U.S. residency in the last 5 years, and U.S. citizenship with a Public Trust or higher clearance. Remote work options available in the National Capital Region and CONUS locations; some travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the required language with superior English and editing skills
- ILR 4 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years
- At least 1 year of experience with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Bilingual proficiency in English and target language (legal/diplomatic terminology)
- Experience with translation resources, monolingual reference materials, and online material
- Native-language fluency with professional command of non-native language
- Ability to translate accurately without changes, omissions, or additions
- Preserve tone and register of source materials
- Adherence to linguist ethics
- Proficient in using CAT tools, SDL Trados Studio
- Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location: Remote / National Capitol Region / Various CONUS Locations
- Travel: Some travel may be required
