Job Summary
Pashto Distance Learning Associate Language Instructor provides virtual Pashto language instruction and cultural-LREC content via distance-learning modalities. Responsibilities include delivering instruction to improve proficiency across Listening/Reading/Speaking, assessing learners using DLPT/OPI, delivering instruction aligned with the POI and ILR levels (ILR 0+ to 3), developing lesson plans and learning materials, reviewing and grading assignments, maintaining a professional virtual learning environment, and collaborating with Site Lead, POI analyst, or Language Instructional Developer to address curriculum gaps. Required to be a US citizen with native or near-native fluency, experience delivering virtual language instruction, understanding the regional cultural-political context, ability to create blended-learning lessons, and access to a Windows computer, webcam, headset, phone/tablet, and reliable high-speed internet. Desired qualifications include experience with CL-150 or Blackboard and a Bachelors Degree. Location is remote with a specific remote site listed (Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA). Travel none.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen
- Educated native speaker of the foreign language or near-native capability in listening, reading, and speaking with ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent
- Experience in providing various levels of foreign language instruction through a virtual environment
- Understanding of the cultural, social, and political environment of the foreign language region
- Experience in creating blended learning lessons and the ability to tailor existing materials to fit the customer’s needs and expectations
- Instructor must have access to a Windows computer, webcam, headset with a microphone, a phone or smart tablet, and a high-speed internet connection
