Job Summary

Coordinate high-volume complicated patient procedures, clinic appointments, and infusion treatments while verifying insurance coverage, determining financial obligations, and securing necessary authorizations. Answer incoming calls to triage, schedule, or transfer patients to clinical teams, and manage wait lists or reschedule appointments as needed. Check in and out patients for procedures and infusions, ensuring accurate demographic and account information is entered into the electronic medical record. Serve as a liaison for physicians, nursing staff, and referring providers, directing patients to appropriate resources and routing direct referrals to other clinical services. Prepare and mail patient information packets and obtain prior medical records when appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a medical office setting, including high-volume direct patient contact, scheduling of appointments and may require experience obtaining managed care authorizations
  • One and a half years of work experience in a high-volume direct public contact position and 6 months experience in a medical office setting
  • Thorough knowledge of PAS policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated advanced PAS user skills
  • Extensive knowledge of integrated care at OHSU
  • Basic computer skills including word processing
  • Windows applications
  • On-line scheduling
  • Preference for data-base skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in confrontational customer interactions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or advanced degree
  • Experience in a medical and/or oncology office setting
  • Appointment scheduling experience
  • Basic computer keyboarding skills including typing of 40-50wpm
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing
  • Extremely high level of attention to detail
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication, listening skills and awareness of self
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance record
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills in resolving patient concerns, scheduling challenges and managed care related problems
  • Demonstrated understanding of managed care
