Job Summary
Party and events host at Michaels in Syracuse plans and coordinates in-store events (including kids' birthday parties) to provide a fun, engaging guest experience. Delivers friendly customer service, assists shoppers, and ensures fast, friendly checkout. Manages event logistics such as setup/breakdown, craft demonstrations, and add-ons (balloons, goody bags). Coordinates with clients and team members, communicates plans, handles administrative tasks (emails, calls, paperwork), and adapts events based on feedback. Demonstrates craft instruction, face painting, and engages guests aged 4–94+. Maintains store standards, safety, and SOP adherence; supports omnichannel processes (BOPIS/SFS) and participates in store cleanliness and operations. Requires strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; experience with children’s events and customer service preferred. Able to work nights, weekends, and early mornings as part of a part-time retail role.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with children’s events preferred
- Excellent people skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively (written, verbal, nonverbal)
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment
- Ability to stand for long periods and move around the store
- Experience in customer service or retail environment preferred
