Job Summary
Receive and sort incoming parts and supplies, then store items in an orderly warehouse, tool room, or supply area. Process incoming requisitions, issue or distribute parts for internal usage, and maintain records of orders, amounts, and locations using a manual or computerized inventory system. Prepare requisition orders to replenish stock, fill customer orders from inventory, and post receipts, stock adjustments, and credit requests into the computer. Conduct telephone sales support and sell spare and replacement parts for motor vehicles, machinery, and equipment in a retail setting. Advise customers on part appropriateness, keep track of backorders, and follow up with vendors. Endeavor to increase parts sales through suggestive selling, coupon discounts, and monthly flyer specials. Participate in all available training programs and assist the Parts Manager as needed. Occasional moderate lifting of up to 100 lbs is required.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years heavy duty parts department experience
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Strong personal organizational skills as they relate to workload, time management and setting priorities
- Effective problem solving and negotiating skills
- Effective conflict resolution skills
- Solid understanding of the truck industry
- Occasional moderate lifting of up to 100 lbs is required
Desired Qualifications
- Red Seal parts certification is an asset
- Ability to promote service sales and expand customer base.
