Job Summary
Manually remove machining imperfections by blending, polishing, and creating edge breaks on precision components. Perform processing steps including graining, hardware installation, masking, deburring, and cleaning. Prepare chemical process solutions for pre-treating and chemical cleaning. Inspect manufactured components for conformance to specifications while ensuring standard procedures are followed for tool setup, process verification, and documentation. Operate hand and air tools and forklifts as required. Maintain safe work environment conditions and ensure parts processing adheres to quality standards. Assist with facility care, material loading/unloading, inventory cycle counts, and packaging of customer orders. Work Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm at the Shields Manufacturing facility in Tualatin, OR.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Ability to set use or setup various measuring devices
- Strong attention to detail
- Good written and verbal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to operate forklift as required
- Must be able to perform manual blending, polishing and creation of edge breaks on precision components
- Must be able to perform graining, hardware installation, masking, deburring, and cleaning
- Must be able to prepare chemical process solutions and baths for pre-treating and chemical cleaning of parts
- Must be able to inspect manufactured components for conformance to specifications
- Must be able to ensure standard procedures are followed in all aspects of work including tool setup and operation, process verification, product inspection, documentation, and material handling
- Must be able to maintain safe work environment conditions by observing processing employee practices and correcting them when necessary
- Must be able to ensure that parts processing adheres to quality standards
- Must be able to assist Shop Floor Control with tasks, such as, cutting material and overall facility care and maintenance
- Must be able to assist Receiving and Materials Management with tasks such as: loading and unloading material; collecting scrap material for recycling
- Must be able to assist in inventory cycle counts
- Must be able to assist with packaging of customer orders
- Must be able to deliver and pick up of parts and materials
- Must be available for Monday thru Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
- Must be able to work in a machining environment with frequent noise in an indoor seasonally air-conditioned and heated environment
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (safety glasses, ear protection)
