Job Summary
The Outside Parts Sales Person is responsible for soliciting parts business through personal and phone contacts, promoting parts products and service capabilities to current and prospective customers. This role requires building relationships, achieving sales and profit quotas, addressing customer needs, resolving problems, and finding new customers. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, along with 1-3 years of experience in parts and service sales, preferably in heavy-duty truck parts/service. Strong communication, problem-solving, and goal-oriented skills are essential, and a valid driver’s license is required.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Minimum of one to three years’ experience in parts and/or service sales
- Ability to prospect and initiate customer calls to develop business
- Ability to listen, communicate effectively and resolve conflict with customers and co-workers
- Ability to read and understand parts catalogs, service manuals and schematics
- Knowledge of company products
- Ability to write/type letters to customers and other sources
- Knowledge of accounting, sales, and state and federal regulations
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate personal computer and office applications
- Strong problem solving skills
- Goal oriented, results focused
- A valid driver’s license is required
Desired Qualifications
- Additional product training preferred
- Heavy duty truck parts/service sales experience preferred
- Sales or sales management experience
