Job Summary
Directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Branch Parts Department and achieving department profit targets. Responsible for preparing operating and capital budgets, developing and implementing an effective sales and marketing plan to meet department sales and profit targets, managing inventory, negotiating vendor terms, and training/assessing parts staff. Must supervise staff, hire personnel, monitor expenditures, build relationships with outside vendors, and analyze sales territory to improve profitability. Strong emphasis on strategic planning, cross-department communication, and delivering excellent customer service within a dealership environment. Advanced product knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts, and proficiency with computer inventory systems and vendor management. Requires the ability to work 8–12 hour shifts and lift up to 75 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (AA) in a technical field or comparable work experience; bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of heavy duty parts sales or related experience with supervisory experience preferred
- Management skills to include strategic plan development, decision making abilities and program implementation
- Ability to display extensive product knowledge to customer and staff to assist with purchase decisions
- Supervisory skills in coaching, training and motivating subordinates to reach established department goals
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and results-driven
- Ability to prioritize and handle numerous tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work well under pressure while assisting a wide variety of customers (both internal and external) and fostering relationships with key industry contacts
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Computer, mathematical and customer service skills
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop and lift/move up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis
- Ability to work in a dealership environment to include 8 - 12 hour days with frequent exposure to weather elements
