Job Summary

Investigate significant incidents to identify root causes and implement mitigation strategies. Manage contractor and vendor relationships while overseeing facility inspections, equipment checks, and work practices to ensure compliance with HSS standards. Develop country risk assessments, maintain emergency response plans, and create training materials for staff and contractors. Analyze HSS data to identify trends, monitor KPIs, and prepare performance reports for management. Liaise with regulatory bodies and stakeholders to ensure adherence to local and international regulations. Establish channels for feedback and facilitate cross-functional meetings to drive continuous improvement in safety culture and risk management practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant area (A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field)
  • Minimum of seven (7) years overall experience
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager/ supervisor
  • Experience developing great places to work across multiple locations
  • In depth knowledge of country Health, Safety & Security legislations, and procedures
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
  • Experience in data gathering, analysis and reporting
  • Experience of training staff in health, safety, and security matters
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Diligent with great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and engaging with a range of contractors/vendors
  • A proactive, engaged self-starter who demonstrates personal ownership for finding new opportunities for improving processes, practices, or resolving problems
  • Ability to work on own initiative to achieve agreed aims and objectives and find solutions to problems

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
