Job Summary
Care for, feed, medicate, and clean patients in the hospital and boarding facility, including laundry, bathing, walking dogs, and restocking supplies. Assist doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams, while maintaining accurate records of medications, special foods, and behavioral issues. You may be trained to clean and sterilize surgical instruments. Perform moderately heavy physical labor and sympathetically attend to sick, scared, or injured animals. Part-time schedule of 15–25 hours per week with availability for weekends, holidays, and occasional morning shifts. Previous animal handling experience is required.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods
- Proper methods of animal restraint
- Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency
- Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job
- Previous animal handling experience
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and occasional morning shifts
