Job Summary
Evaluate animal condition, provide medical treatment, and administer vaccinations and medications for all animals on base. Perform euthanasia in accordance with laws and regulations, then humanely dispose of euthanized animals. Assist the Veterinarian with surgical procedures and complete veterinary tasks as directed. Maintain accurate data entry in Shelter Buddy, manage drug logs, and ensure all records remain current and accessible. Follow quarantine protocols, complete Standard Operating Procedures, and use appropriate PPE while managing the shelter's medical program within the nonprofit budget.
Required Qualifications
- Available to work 25 hours/week
- WEEKENDS ARE A MUST
- Must be 21 years of age
- Have a high school diploma
- Submit to a background check
- Be eligible for Kentucky State Euthanasia Specialist Certification
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Have a strong commitment to the mission and purpose of LHS and LFACC
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician
