Job Summary
Answer telephones and patient call lights while entering orders into the electronic medical record with high accuracy. Manage complex secretarial functions including ordering supplies, filing, and printing reports, while performing delegated patient care tasks such as observing patients and handling medications. Update call light assignments, maintain unit activity sheets, and ensure adequate supplies through coordination with nursing material specialists. Prioritize stat orders, file patient data, and manage sensitive confidential information in compliance with safety and quality standards. Complete basic patient care duties as directed by the registered nurse and expeditiously facilitate admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Two (2) years secretarial or comparable clerical experience
- Medical Office Assistant certificate or one (1) year of business or other related college coursework
Desired Qualifications
- Associates or bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Proficient with personal computers and software (including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrates initiative, self-direction, motivation, and a proven ability to work successfully with a variety of people and disciplines
