Job Summary
Provide one-on-one and group instruction for students in classroom and hands-on activities involving vehicles, including pre-trip inspections, road skills, backing maneuvers, and shifting evaluations. Maintain high safety standards to prevent equipment damage and injury while adapting lesson plans to individual learning styles and utilizing latest supportive technology. Ensure accurate record-keeping of student logs and evaluations in compliance with FMCSA and Department of Transportation standards. Identify students needing assistance and refer them to Student Services, while enforcing college regulations and reporting conduct violations. Remain current on teaching developments and multiculturalism to foster a respectful learning environment.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of CDL driving practices as outlined by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration
- Ability to remain current on industry trends
- Exceptional customer services skills
- Ability to maintain working relationship with internal and external customers
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with limited guidance and daily directions
- Ability to work portions of the day outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Three years of over the road truck driving experience
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to maintain Fed-Med Card
- Legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire
- Maintain work authorization throughout the employment term
