Job Summary
Part Time Special Education Teacher in Bastrop, TX. Responsibilities include collaborating with campus administration on ARD meetings, developing and implementing IEPs, ensuring compliance with federal/state SPED requirements, coordinating evaluations and assessments, providing accommodations and services to students with disabilities, maintaining required reports and communications with parents, and supporting general education staff. Requires a Bachelor's degree and a valid Texas Special Education teaching certificate (or eligibility) with familiarity in ARD, IEP processes, and SPED laws; duties also include after-hours state tutorials as needed and ongoing collaboration with staff and families to support students with disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-Year College or University, preferably in Special Education
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in the area of Special Education (or letter of eligibility for special education certification)
- Additional grade level or content area certification may be required for select positions
- Advanced knowledge of and compliance with federal and state special education law
- Knowledge of ARD process and IEP development/implementation
- Experience with IEPs, assessments, and transition services
- Ability to maintain compliance with state mandated assessments and district SPED requirements
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with parents, general education teachers, and administrators
- Experience with curriculum software programs and data interpretation
- Ability to conduct conferences with parents and students
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and after-hours duties as needed
