Job Summary
Mentor teacher oversees and encourages student progress across Oxford Virtual Academy courses, acts as the initial point of contact for teachers and families, ensures timely responses to student inquiries (within 12 hours), assists students and families in deciding to participate in online learning, evaluates student learning and implements interventions, serves as a resource for teachers on student concerns, ensures parental written permission for online enrollment, manages technology used in Oxford Virtual courses, and participates in required training. The role requires collaboration with district and school leadership, familiarity with virtual/online learning environments, strong relationship-building with students and families, and ability to navigate course logistics and pupil accounting requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Michigan teacher certification preferred
- Experience in virtual education is preferred
- Proficient with various technology tools in education or the ability to quickly learn to use necessary technology required for the courses
- Ability to connect with students to form positive, encouraging relationships
